Kevan Jones MP hosted a delegation of Members of Congress and staff from the US House Intelligence Committee in Parliament today (25 April).

The delegation received a tour of the Palace of Westminster, with special access to Speaker’s House and its state rooms by permission of the Speaker of the House of Commons.

The UK and US have a close working relationship on matters of intelligence and security. The House Intelligence Committee, like Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee, provides political oversight of the intelligence community and plays an important role in scrutinising the work of the relevant agencies.

As a member of Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee, Kevan welcomed the opportunity to strengthen UK-US political relationships in this important area.

Kevan Jones MP said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Members of Congress and staff from the US House Intelligence Committee to Parliament today.

“Intelligence cooperation between the UK and United States is a key part of our special relationship and political oversight of that activity is a fundamental part of our democracy.

“I am grateful to the US House Intelligence Committee delegation for visiting the UK and strengthening UK-US political relationships in this important area.”
