Kevan visited the Think Ahead to meet mental health social workers trained through the programme.

Think Ahead is a charity working in partnership with NHS and Local Authority community mental health services to improve efficiency and outcomes, by strengthening the contribution of social work.

Participants work with people with severe mental health problems, helping them to move towards recovery and reduced reliance on services. As well as taking overall responsibility for people’s care, the social workers have a particular focus on improving the social factors in people’s lives – such as relationships, employment, and living arrangements – which can create the foundations for sustainable recovery.

Kevan said:

“It was great to meet the participants and staff to learn about the Think Ahead programme and to discuss the value of social work to mental health.”
