Today, The Rt Hon Kevan Jones, MP for North Durham, wrote to the Chief Executive of the Premier League to express his concern at the current levels of scrutiny applied to the takeover of Premier League clubs. This came after the withdrawal of PIF, PCP Capital Partners and Reuben Brothers in their application to takeover Newcastle United.

In the letter, Kevan outlined in detail a number of issues within the takeover process, including the absence of an objective timeline that takeover bids must subscribe to.
