Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham has written to the Chief Executive of Durham County Council to raise concerns about the local authority’s recent decisions about investment and regeneration in Stanley.

In March the Council approved planning permission for a Drive Thru Restaurant which would have brought 30 new jobs to the town. Unfortunately, the local authority have since decided not to proceed with the sale of the land to enable this development to go ahead.

Kevan has now contacted the Chief Executive to raise further concerns about the Council’s new approach, which he feels sends a poor signal to the business community and to anyone who might want to invest in the town.
