Kevan met with Durham County Council’s Cabinet Portfolio-Holder for Housing, Cllr Kevin Shaw to discuss the Council’s Housing Strategy and their plans to introduce Selective Licensing across County Durham.

Under Selective Licensing, all Landlords would need to be registered and have a licence from Durham County Council to be able to rent out properties.

Kevan said:

“It was great to meet with Cllr Shaw and to hear about the work that the Council is doing to make it easier to tackle issues with Anti-Social Behaviour and to improve the standard of housing in County Durham.”

A report is due to go to Durham County Council’s Cabinet later this year to outline the next steps. Further information about Selective Licensing is available on Durham County Council’s website here.
