Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham, will be calling in to the Salvation Army at Consett on Monday 23 December to make a donation towards the Derwentside Toy Appeal.
The Christmas appeal is run by the Salvation Army in conjunction with Julie Patterson, who established the appeal in 2006, to bring a little bit of festive cheer to disadvantaged children in Derwentside.
Mr. Jones said, “I am very pleased to be able to show my support for this excellent appeal. Christmas can be a difficult time for a lot of people, and this appeal ensures that many children from the area, who might not otherwise, have a present to open on Christmas morning.”
Anyone wanting to make a last minute donation can drop presents at the Salvation Army in Consett (Sherburn Terrace).
