From 9th to 12th August, Chester-le-Street played host to one of the world’s great sporting fixtures, with the Fourth Ashes Test being held at the Emirates Durham ICG.
Tens of thousands of visitors arrived in the town over the four days to a very warm welcome, as England emerged as the winners of a thrilling match on the evening of the 4th Day.

It is clear the event was considered a huge success by all who attended and has really put the town on the map. Particularly thanks must go to the people of Chester-le-Street who offered the many visitors who arrived a warm and enthusiastic welcome.”
