Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham, visited the site of the Quaking Houses Community Garden on 6 April, as the Action Group secured funding to develop the garden.
Speaking to the Northern Echo, Mr. Jones said, “It is a very strong community here and this shows what you can do when you get together.
“The funding is great news and, although this is a derelict spot now, in a few months’ time it will be a garden, which will not just improve the local area, but be a place local people can use.”
