Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham and Minister for Veterans, will open a sponsored walk at Sacriston Health Centre tomorrow morning, Saturday 27th March.
The walk has been organised by WO2 Angela Kelly who is from Sacriston, and currently based at Selly Oak Hospital, and is in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association).
Mr Jones said: “I am very pleased to be able to open this charity walk. I am sure it will be a very enjoyable occasion for all involved, and will raise funds for two very worthwhile causes.
“Sir Bobby Robson of course has a special place in the hearts of the people of this area, while SSAFA offers an invaluable support service to armed forces personnel, both serving and retired, and their families. This event will provide much needed funds for both charities.”
The walk starts at the Health Centre at 10.30am and participants will make their way to Langley Park.
