Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham, will join Alex Nelson, Stationmaster at Chester-le-Street Railway Station to launch a new report on train services for the town.
Mr. Nelson commissioned the Railway Consultancy to carry out a Station Calls Analysis, and the final report will be launched at the Station at 3pm this Friday, 27 May.
Kevan Jones said, “the report raises a number of concerns about the impact the most recent timetable changes will have, and questions the basis on which the changes were made, and suggests that Chester-le-Street needs a half-hourly peak time service in both directions.
“I hope that by joining with Alex to officially launch the report, we will be able to further promote the need for a much better service in Chester-le-Street, particularly at peak times. I have also provided copies to the Head of Transport at Durham County Council and to the Secretary of State, and will continue to raise this matter with Ministers and Train Operators.”
