On Wednesday 28 October, Kevan took part in a debate on the UK steel industry.

During the debate, Kevan challenged the government on the contract for a new polar research vessel. He said, ‘The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is sponsoring a £200 million contract for a new polar research vessel…can he (the Minister) guarantee that the ship, which is to be built in Birkenhead, will be produced with British steel?’
