Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham, will visit a coffee afternoon at Ouston Infants School on Friday 11th June at 2pm, which is being held as part of 1 Goal Day.

The day is about raising awareness of the 75 million children in the world who do not have the opportunity to go to school. 1 Goal aims to make sure that the legacy of the 2010 World Cup is education for all.

Mr Jones said: “I am very pleased to show my support for 1 Goal Day and want to congratulate Ouston Infant School for playing their part in raising awareness of this campaign.

“A huge global event such as the football World Cup gives us an important opportunity to show our commitment to achieving education for all. A lot has been achieved internationally over the last decade, but there is still a huge task ahead of the international community to reach this goal.”
