Kevan Jones, Member of Parliament for North Durham, will visit Beamish Open Air Museum on Saturday 20th March as part of British Tourism Week 2010.

The week sees a large number of events all connected in their aim to highlight the importance of the British Tourism Industry and its increasing value to the economy.

Mr Jones said: “I am very pleased to show my support for British Tourism Week by visiting Beamish, an internationally renowned attraction at the heart of my constituency.

“The tourism industry is increasingly important to the North East economy, indeed our region as seen one of the biggest increases in tourism revenue anywhere in the UK.

“Beamish attracts visitors from around the country, and indeed the world, and I am sure it will continue to play a vital role in the local economy, as well as providing a great day out for people of all ages.”
