Last week Kevan Jones spoke in support of a House of Common Bill brought forward by Labour MP, Paul Blomfield. The Bill aims to bring in greater controls and restrictions for payday lenders. Payday money lenders make millions from extortionate loans to some of the most vulnerable in the UK. In hard times such as these, it’s no wonder that people who are struggling will turn to them for help. But the massive interest rates, rip-off charges and misleading advertising of payday lenders often push people further into debt.
