At Business, Innovation and Skills Quesions on 24 May, Kevan Jones asked the Government what impact recent changes to student visas could have on North East Universities attempting to attract overseas students.
Commenting that the world-class Durham University, as well as other insititutions in the region, are key drivers of the regional economy, Mr. Jones asked, “What assessment has the Minister made of the visa changes and the capacity of Durham, and those other four universities, to attract overseas students, especially when we read in the press that students from India and other countries are choosing Canada and the United States, rather than the UK?”
