On Friday 14 March, Kevan officially opened the new Parcelforce Newcastle Depot, on the Drum Industrial Estate, Chester-le-Street. The depot will serve the Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham areas.
The 7,777 square metre depot has more than four times the floor space of the previous site in Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead. The new depot has the capacity to hold up to 100 vehicles and handle up to thirty thousand parcels a day.
Kevan Jones, MP for North Durham said: “I am delighted that Parcelforce Worldwide is expanding its Newcastle operation. I welcome the creation of local jobs for constituents which create a real boost for the local economy.
“As well as being a UK and international parcel delivery service, Parcelforce Worldwide is a local business and employer. I’m pleased that businesses and individuals in North Durham and the wider local area can benefit from this service.”
