Kevan carried out the official opening of the Just for Women Centre in Stanley on Friday 3 August, cutting the ribbon and unveiling a special plaque to mark the occassion.

Kevan, who recently became Patron of the Centre, joined Directors Linda Kirk and Lorraine Turnbull as well as a host of other guests including Councillor Linda Marshall, Chairman of Durham County Council at the celebration.

Kevan said “I am very pleased to be able to show my support for this excellent venture, and am proud to be Patron of the Just for Women Centre. I would like to congratulate Linda and Lorraine on getting this social enterprise off the ground, and I will do whatever I can to support them and help them to continue providing this vital service.”

The Just for Women Centre offers a place for women facing diffculties to come and discuss their problems, and to support them through the use of crafts. They are based at 37 Front Street, Stanley and can be contacted on 01207 281145 or ar [email protected]
