On 12th August, Kevan broke the first piece of ground for the £2.7 million improvement programme being undertaken by Northumbrian Water in Chester-le-Street.

The work will reduce the risk of flooding to nearly 60 properties in the Ropery Lane and Garden Farm areas of the town, and includes the installation of 1.2m litre storm water tank.

Kevan said “I am delighted to be able to see the beginning of this scheme. I know this has been an issue of great concern to a number of my constituents for many years.”
